Carrier Transicold Refrigeration Unit
Symptoms
The Carrier Transicold unit displays alarm CR008, indicating a clogged filter drier. The liquid line filter drier has a high pressure differential, restricting refrigerant flow to the expansion valve.
Possible Causes
- Filter drier has absorbed moisture and contaminants from the system and has reached its capacity
- System experienced a compressor burnout and the drier is clogged with carbonized oil residue
- Filter drier has been in service beyond its recommended replacement interval
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Measure the temperature drop or pressure drop across the filter drier
Temperature drop is less than 1C or pressure drop is less than 0.3 bar, confirming the drier is not restricted - Step 2: Check the moisture indicator color in the drier sight glass
Color is green, indicating the system is dry and the dier is still effective - Step 3: Verify the filter drier installation date against the recommended replacement schedule
Drier has been in service for less than the recommended interval or 12 months, whichever comes first
How to Reset
To reset: 1) Replace the filter drier with a new unit of the same capacity. 2) Evacuate the system. 3) Press RESET. 4) Monitor the pressure drop for 30 minutes to confirm the new drier is not restricted.
