Applicable Systems
CX210 Excavator
Symptoms
Lift arms raise slowly when cold; normal speed after warm-up.
Possible Causes
- Hydraulic oil viscosity too high for ambient temperature.
- Lift spool in control valve has slow response due to bore wear.
- Pump internal leakage higher when cold (clearances tight).
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Check oil grade vs ambient temperature chart.
Oil grade HY-TRAN Ultra; acceptable to -20°C. - Step 2: Measure lift speed at cold (10°C) vs warm (60°C) oil.
Cold speed ≥ 70% of warm speed; acceptable per spec. - Step 3: Inspect pump case drain flow at cold startup.
Case drain ≤ 5 L/min; no increase when cold.
How to Reset
Change to correct cold-weather oil grade; inspect pump and valve if cold speed < 50% of warm.
