Applicable Systems
3CX Backhoe
Symptoms
Wipers and cab heater fan stop simultaneously; fuse blows repeatedly.
Possible Causes
- Shared ground point loose or corroded.
- Heater fan motor drawing excessive current due to worn bearings.
- Wiper motor park switch shorting internally.
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Measure current draw of heater fan at high speed.
Current ≤ 15 A; no spike at startup. - Step 2: Disconnect wiper motor and test fuse stability with heater only.
Fuse holds; no blow with wiper isolated. - Step 3: Check ground point G3 behind dash for tightness and corrosion.
Ground bolt tight; resistance < 0.3 Ω to battery negative.
How to Reset
Replace heater fan motor or wiper motor; clean and tighten ground G3.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Q: Can I use higher amp fuse?
No, wiring is sized for 15 A; higher fuse risks fire.
- Q: Why share a ground?
JCB uses common ground architecture to reduce harness weight.
