GP4000 Series
Symptoms
Backlight is dim and image is barely visible even at maximum brightness setting.
Possible Causes
- CCFL or LED backlight assembly aging after >50,000 hours of operation.
- Ambient light sensor on the front bezel falsely reporting high lux, reducing backlight.
- Power supply voltage sag below 21 VDC limiting backlight driver output.
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Measure backlight luminance with a lux meter at maximum brightness.
Luminance is below 200 cd/m2, indicating backlight degradation. - Step 2: Cover the ambient light sensor and observe if brightness increases automatically.
Brightness increases, confirming sensor mis-calibration or obstruction. - Step 3: Measure 24 VDC input under full load including backlight at 100%.
Voltage remains above 21.6 VDC throughout the test.
How to Reset
Replace the backlight assembly or the ambient light sensor, and verify power supply stability.
