Pro-face GP4000 Series Error Code ERR-202

Pro-face HMI Major Display

Model: GP4000 Series | Code: ERR-202

Applicable Systems
GP4000 Series

Symptoms

Backlight is dim and image is barely visible even at maximum brightness setting.

Possible Causes

  • CCFL or LED backlight assembly aging after >50,000 hours of operation.
  • Ambient light sensor on the front bezel falsely reporting high lux, reducing backlight.
  • Power supply voltage sag below 21 VDC limiting backlight driver output.

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Step 1: Measure backlight luminance with a lux meter at maximum brightness.
Luminance is below 200 cd/m2, indicating backlight degradation.
  2. Step 2: Cover the ambient light sensor and observe if brightness increases automatically.
Brightness increases, confirming sensor mis-calibration or obstruction.
  3. Step 3: Measure 24 VDC input under full load including backlight at 100%.
Voltage remains above 21.6 VDC throughout the test.

How to Reset

Replace the backlight assembly or the ambient light sensor, and verify power supply stability.

Common Replacement Parts

  • LED backlight strip: LED backlight strip
  • Ambient light sensor: Ambient light sensor
