Symptoms
Engine shuts down immediately after cold start; no smoke from exhaust.
Possible Causes
- Glow plug circuit failure—no pre-heat.
- Fuel shut-off solenoid stuck closed or wiring break.
- Crank position sensor intermittent open circuit.
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Measure glow plug resistance; check relay output.
Each plug 0.8–1.2 Ω; relay supplies 24 V for 15 seconds. - Step 2: Listen for shut-off solenoid click when key switched on.
Audible click; solenoid pulls in and holds with 24 V. - Step 3: Check crank sensor AC voltage while cranking.
AC output ≥ 2 V peak-to-peak at 200 RPM cranking.
How to Reset
Replace glow plugs, shut-off solenoid, or crank sensor; clear DTCs with VCADS Pro.
