Applicable Systems
Wonderware System Platform
Symptoms
The Wonderware System Platform reports a security access denied error. The logged-in user does not have the required permissions to perform the requested action.
Possible Causes
- User account is not assigned to the role that grants the required permission
- Role-based security was recently reconfigured and the user role lost the permission
- Active Directory authentication failed silently, and the user is operating under a guest account
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Check the user role assignment in the Galaxy security configuration
User is assigned to a role that includes the required permission - Step 2: Verify the permission is included in the assigned role in the security matrix
Role definition includes the required permission for the action being attempted - Step 3: Check the Active Directory authentication status and the user session identity
User is authenticated as the correct domain account, not as a guest or fallback account
How to Reset
To reset: 1) Assign the user to the correct role with the required permission. 2) Have the user log out and log back in. 3) Verify the action succeeds without an access denied error.
