Symptoms
Touch registration is inaccurate; presses on one area activate an adjacent button.
Possible Causes
- Touchscreen calibration drift due to temperature cycling or aging digitizer.
- Protective film or overlay creating air gap between finger and capacitive layer.
- Dirt, grease, or moisture accumulating on the screen surface.
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Enter terminal setup and run the 25-point touch calibration utility.
All calibration crosses register at the exact center with <2 mm deviation. - Step 2: Remove any aftermarket screen protector and clean with isopropyl alcohol.
Screen is clear and touch response improves measurably. - Step 3: Test with a conductive stylus instead of a gloved finger.
Stylus clicks register correctly, ruling out electrical interference.
How to Reset
Recalibrate the touchscreen using the built-in calibration wizard and save settings to non-volatile memory.
