Symptoms
Terminal does not boot; power LED blinks red three times then pauses.
Possible Causes
- Failed BIOS self-test due to corrupted boot sector on internal flash.
- Insufficient input voltage; 24 VDC supply droops below 18 V during startup inrush.
- Internal coin-cell RTC battery depleted, causing CMOS checksum failure.
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Measure 24 VDC input at the terminal power connector under load.
Voltage remains stable between 20.4 V and 28.8 V during boot. - Step 2: Replace the internal CR2032 RTC battery and clear CMOS via jumper.
BIOS POST completes successfully and RTC retains time after power cycle. - Step 3: Reflash the OS image using the USB recovery stick per Rockwell procedure.
Terminal boots to Windows CE/Windows Embedded and loads runtime.
How to Reset
Replace the RTC battery and reflash the OS image from the recovery USB drive, then restore the .mer runtime.
