Applicable Systems
CX210 Excavator
Symptoms
Engine oil pressure warning at idle; pressure normal above 1200 RPM.
Possible Causes
- Worn main bearings increasing clearance at low-speed low-pressure condition.
- Oil pick-up tube O-ring leaking causing aeration at idle.
- Oil pressure regulator spring fatigued and weak.
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Measure oil pressure at 800 RPM with mechanical gauge.
Pressure ≥ 138 kPa (20 psi) at 800 RPM. - Step 2: Remove oil pan and inspect pick-up tube O-ring.
O-ring pliable and seated; no cracks or compression set. - Step 3: Compare regulator spring free length to new part.
Length within 2 mm of new spring specification.
How to Reset
Replace main bearings if clearance excessive; replace pick-up O-ring or regulator spring; refill oil.
