Symptoms
The generator set reports a generator overfrequency. The output frequency exceeds the rated value.
Possible Causes
- Engine speed too high from governor malfunction
- Governor actuator stuck open
- Loss of electrical load
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Check the output frequency with a meter
Frequency is at the rated value - Step 2: Verify the governor and actuator operation
Governor controls engine speed - Step 3: Check the load condition
Load is stable
How to Reset
To reset: Restore normal frequency, then reset the protection.
