Symptoms
The generator set reports an overload. The load current exceeds the rated generator capacity.
Possible Causes
- Connected load exceeding the generator rating
- Motor starting inrush current too high
- Power factor too low increasing apparent power
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Check the load current against the rated capacity
Current is within rated limits - Step 2: Verify motor starting inrush is manageable
Inrush does not exceed generator capacity - Step 3: Check the power factor of the load
Power factor is within acceptable range
How to Reset
To reset: Reduce the load, then reset the overload protection.
