Symptoms
The generator set reports a short circuit. A short circuit has been detected on the output.
Possible Causes
- Output wiring short to ground or between phases
- Load side fault causing short circuit current
- Alternator winding short
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Perform insulation testing on the output wiring
No shorts detected - Step 2: Isolate the load side fault
Fault is located and isolated - Step 3: Test the alternator windings
Windings are intact
How to Reset
To reset: Repair the short circuit, then reset the protection.
