Symptoms
Engine derate active due to DEF system fault; torque reduction and speed limitation in effect.
Possible Causes
- DEF tank empty or low
- DEF quality below specification
- SCR system fault preventing NOx reduction
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Check DEF tank level and quality
DEF level > 10% and quality 32.5% - Step 2: Review all SCR/DEF related active codes
No other SCR codes active - Step 3: Resolve underlying SCR fault (see SPN 3719/3364)
All SCR codes cleared - Step 4: Perform inducement reset via Cat ET
Derate lifted after reset - Step 5: Verify full engine power restored on road test
Full power, no derate active
How to Reset
Inducement reset requires Cat ET and all SCR faults resolved first.

- DEF Fluid (2.5 gal) P/N: 222-7640
Frequently Asked Questions
