Symptoms
The Spectra Series SG withdrawable breaker fails to rack from Test to Connected position. The racking handle stops mid-travel and the position indicator remains between positions. The interlock LED flashes yellow.
Possible Causes
- Misalignment between the breaker chassis and the cradle guide rails
- Debris or foreign object obstructing the racking path
- Interlock solenoid not energized due to shutter not fully open
- Worn or damaged racking screw or drive mechanism
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Withdraw the breaker fully and inspect the guide rails and chassis wheels
Rails are clean and wheels roll freely without scoring - Step 2: Check that the shutter mechanism opens fully when the breaker is inserted
Shutters open completely and expose the fixed contacts uniformly - Step 3: Verify 24V DC is present at the racking interlock solenoid when the shutter is open
24V DC measured at solenoid terminals; if absent, check auxiliary supply - Step 4: If the racking screw binds, lubricate with manufacturer-approved grease or replace the screw

How to Reset
Do not force the mechanism. Withdraw the breaker fully, correct the obstruction or misalignment, and reattempt racking. The interlock resets automatically when conditions are correct.
