Symptoms
The printing press reports a printing unit motor overload. A color group drive motor has exceeded its rated current.
Possible Causes
- Ink train friction too high from dried ink
- Motor drive belt tension excessive
- Motor bearing failure causing drag
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Check the ink train for smooth rotation without ink buildup
Ink train rotates freely - Step 2: Verify drive belt tension is within specification
Belt tension is correct - Step 3: Check motor bearings for smooth operation
Bearings show no abnormal noise or heat
How to Reset
To reset: Clear the overload cause, then reset the motor protection.
