Kaeser ASD/BS Series Error Code K006

Kaeser Compressor Minor Communication

Model: ASD/BS Series | Code: K006

Applicable Systems
ASD/BS Series

Symptoms

Sigma Control 2 has lost Ethernet communication with the Kaeser Sigma Air Manager (SAM) central controller. The compressor runs in standalone mode; load-sharing and sequencing are disabled.

Possible Causes

  • Ethernet cable disconnected or damaged between the compressor and the network switch
  • IP address conflict after a network reconfiguration or DHCP lease expiration
  • SAM software version incompatible with the Sigma Control 2 firmware version
  • Network switch port disabled or spanning-tree blocking the connection

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Step 1: Check the link LED on the Sigma Control 2 Ethernet port and the switch port
Re-seat the RJ45 cable and test with a known-good cable. Verify the cable is Cat5e or better
  2. Step 2: Access the Sigma Control 2 network settings and verify the IP, subnet, and gateway
Ensure the IP is in the same subnet as the SAM and does not conflict with another device
  3. Step 3: Check the SAM software version and the Sigma Control 2 firmware version on their respective status screens
Update both to the latest compatible versions if a mismatch is confirmed
  4. Step 4: Log into the network switch management interface and verify the port is not disabled or in error state
Enable the port and disable spanning-tree on the compressor switch ports if necessary

How to Reset

Reset: Once the network link is restored, the Sigma Control 2 will auto-register with SAM within 60 seconds. No manual reset is needed on the compressor.

Common Replacement Parts

  • 6.2020.0: Industrial Ethernet cable, 3 m (Cat6, shielded, M12 to RJ45 adapter included)
  • 6.2021.0: Sigma Air Manager license upgrade (For additional compressor nodes beyond the base license)

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Q: Does the compressor stop if SAM communication is lost?

No. The compressor continues running with its local pressure setpoints. Only the central sequencing and efficiency optimization are affected.

  • Q: What port does SAM use?

SAM uses TCP port 502 (Modbus TCP) and port 80/443 for web interface. UDP port 47808 is used for device discovery.
