Symptoms
The boiler reports a safety valve leak. The safety relief valve is leaking or passing steam.
Possible Causes
- Safety valve seat damaged or contaminated
- Safety valve setpoint too close to operating pressure
- Safety valve spring fatigued
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Inspect the safety valve for leakage
Valve seats and seals correctly - Step 2: Verify the safety valve setpoint
Setpoint has adequate margin above operating pressure - Step 3: Replace the safety valve if it is leaking
New valve seals and operates correctly
How to Reset
To reset: Repair or replace the safety valve, then clear the alarm.
