Symptoms

MAF sensor signal voltage above maximum expected; ECM sees more airflow than actual; may run lean.

Possible Causes

  • MAF sensor signal wire short to +5V or +12V
  • MAF sensor internal failure
  • Aftermarket performance MAF with wrong calibration

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Step 1: Check MAF signal voltage at key ON engine OFF
    Voltage should be ~0.5V
  2. Step 2: Check signal wire for short to +V
    No short to +V supply
  3. Step 3: Verify MAF is OEM or correct part number
    Correct OEM part installed
  4. Step 4: Replace MAF sensor if voltage high
    New sensor voltage normal
  5. Step 5: Clear code and verify on drive cycle
    MAF reading normal

How to Reset

Clear with OBD-II scanner after repair.

Common Replacement Parts

  • MAF Sensor (OEM spec)
