Symptoms
The engine may not start, or multiple warning lights illuminate simultaneously. The scan tool may be unable to communicate with the engine control module. DTC U0100 is stored by a control module that lost communication with the ECM/PCM module.
Possible Causes
- CAN bus wiring fault between ECM and other modules
- ECM power supply or ground fault
- ECM internal failure
- CAN bus termination resistor fault
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Connect a diagnostic scanner and read all module DTCs to confirm U0100
