Symptoms
The elevator reports a traction machine overload. The hoist motor current has exceeded the rated value.
Possible Causes
- Motor overload from excessive load or friction
- Motor bearing failure causing drag
- Supply voltage low causing high current
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Check motor current against nameplate FLA
Current is within rated value - Step 2: Inspect motor bearings for noise and heat
Bearings are in good condition - Step 3: Verify supply voltage at the motor terminals
Voltage is within 10 percent of rated
How to Reset
To reset: Clear the overload, allow the motor to cool, then reset.
