Wilo Circulator Pump
Symptoms
The Wilo pump displays alarm W005, indicating impeller blockage. Foreign material has obstructed the impeller passages, reducing flow and increasing motor load.
Possible Causes
- Debris in the suction source such as leaves, rags, or sediment
- Scale or crystalline deposits from hard or chemically reactive fluids
- Corrosion products from upstream piping or tanks
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Inspect the suction strainer for debris
Strainer is clean and intact with no tears - Step 2: Check pump flow and pressure against the performance curve
Operating point is on the published curve with no significant deviation - Step 3: If flow is low, open the inspection port or disassemble to inspect the impeller
Impeller passages are clear and vane profile is intact
How to Reset
To reset: 1) Clean the suction strainer. 2) Remove debris from the impeller. 3) Check upstream piping for sources of contamination. 4) Restart and verify flow.
