Baxi Baxi Heating Boiler Error Code BX002

Baxi Home Boiler Critical Flame

Model: Baxi Heating Boiler | Code: BX002

Applicable Systems
Baxi Heating Boiler

Symptoms

The Baxi boiler displays fault code BX002, indicating flame signal loss during operation. The burner flame was detected at ignition but was lost while the boiler was running, causing a safety lockout.

Possible Causes

  • Flame detection electrode is contaminated with combustion deposits, causing intermittent signal loss
  • Gas pressure dropped during operation due to a supply problem or a failing gas valve
  • Burner is partially blocked by debris, causing the flame to become unstable and lift off the flame detection electrode

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Step 1: Clean the flame detection electrode with a soft cloth and inspect the ceramic insulator for cracks
Electrode is clean, the ceramic is intact with no cracks, and the wire connection is secure
  2. Step 2: Monitor the gas pressure at the inlet test point during burner operation
Gas pressure remains stable at the nominal supply pressure throughout the burner cycle
  3. Step 3: Inspect the burner ports for blockage and clean if necessary
All burner ports are clear and the flame pattern is uniform and stable across the entire burner

How to Reset

To reset: 1) Clean the flame detection electrode and burner. 2) Verify gas pressure stability. 3) Press RESET for 3 seconds. 4) Monitor the flame signal for 10 minutes of continuous operation.
