Carrier Refrigeration Carrier Transicold Refrigeration Unit Error Code CR005

Model: Carrier Transicold Refrigeration Unit | Code: CR005

Applicable Systems
Carrier Transicold Refrigeration Unit

Symptoms

The Carrier Transicold unit displays alarm CR005, indicating a condenser fan fault. One or more condenser fan motors are not operating, reducing condenser capacity and raising head pressure.

Possible Causes

  • Fan motor has failed due to a shorted winding or seized bearing
  • Fan motor capacitor has failed, preventing the motor from starting
  • Fan control relay on the controller board has failed or the thermal overload has tripped

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Step 1: Check the fan motor winding resistance and bearing condition
Winding resistance matches the nameplate values and the motor turns freely by hand
  2. Step 2: Test the fan motor capacitor with a capacitance meter
Capacitance is within 10 percent of the rated value printed on the capacitor
  3. Step 3: Check the fan control relay output and the thermal overload state on the controller board
Relay energizes correctly when commanded and the overload is not tripped

How to Reset

To reset: 1) Replace the failed fan motor or capacitor. 2) Replace the control relay if faulty. 3) Reset the thermal overload. 4) Verify all condenser fans are operating and head pressure is normal.
