Symptoms
The air conditioner reports a high-pressure protection trip. The discharge pressure exceeds the maximum safe limit.
Possible Causes
- Condenser fouling or fan failure
- Refrigerant overcharge
- Non-condensable gases in the system
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Clean condenser and verify fan operation
Condenser operates at full capacity - Step 2: Check refrigerant charge by subcooling
Charge matches specification - Step 3: Purge non-condensables if present
No non-condensables in the system
How to Reset
To reset: Lower the discharge pressure, then reset the high-pressure switch.
