Dornier Weaving Machine
Symptoms
The Dornier weaving machine displays alarm D003, indicating heald frame motion anomaly. The heald frames that open the shed are not moving correctly, causing shed timing errors and potential warp breakage.
Possible Causes
- Heald frame drive cam is worn, causing the frame lift and dwell timing to deviate from specification
- Heald frame guide is worn or the frame is bent, causing mechanical binding during the shedding motion
- Heald drive servo motor is not responding to the motion profile, causing the frames to lag or overshoot
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Check the heald frame drive cam profile against the timing diagram specification
Cam profile matches the specification with no measurable wear on the working surface - Step 2: Inspect the heald frame guides for wear and the frames for straightness with a straightedge
Guides are within tolerance and the frames are straight with no visible bending - Step 3: Verify the heald drive servo motor follows the commanded motion profile with a position readout
Motor position matches the commanded profile within 1 degree at all points in the shedding cycle
How to Reset
To reset: 1) Replace worn heald drive cams. 2) Replace worn guides or bent frames. 3. Repair or replace the servo motor. 4. Press RESET. 5. Verify shed timing in a test run.
