Applicable Systems
Dornier Weaving Machine
Symptoms
The Dornier weaving machine displays alarm D010, indicating main motor overload. The main drive motor is drawing excessive current, triggering the overload protection and stopping the machine.
Possible Causes
- Main motor bearings are worn, increasing friction and causing the motor to draw excessive current
- Main motor is overloaded because the weaving settings produce too much load for the motor rating
- Main motor drive inverter is not tuned correctly, causing current oscillation that trips the overload
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Check the main motor bearing condition by listening for noise and measuring the bearing temperature
No abnormal noise is heard and the bearing temperature is below 60C during normal operation - Step 2: Review the weaving settings against the machine's load capacity for the current fabric specification
Settings produce a load that is within the motor's rated capacity for continuous operation - Step 3: Verify the drive inverter autotune parameters and the current limiting settings
Inverter is tuned correctly and the current limit is set to the motor's rated full load current
How to Reset
To reset: 1) Replace worn motor bearings. 2. Adjust weaving settings to reduce load. 3. Retune the drive inverter. 4. Press RESET. 5. Verify motor current is below rated full load during continuous weaving.
