Applicable Systems
Dornier Weaving Machine
Symptoms
The Dornier weaving machine displays alarm D009, indicating an electronic dobby fault. The dobby mechanism that controls the shedding pattern is not operating correctly, causing pattern errors or frame timing faults.
Possible Causes
- Dobby solenoid valve has failed, preventing one or more heald frames from lifting at the correct time
- Dobby encoder has lost position reference, causing the pattern to be out of phase with the main shaft
- Dobby mechanical linkage has a worn or broken pin, causing the frame lift to be incomplete or erratic
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Check the dobby solenoid valve coil resistance and the control signal at each valve
All solenoid coils show correct resistance and receive the control signal when commanded by the pattern - Step 2: Verify the dobby encoder position reference matches the main shaft angle
Encoder reading matches the main shaft angle within 1 degree throughout the full revolution - Step 3: Inspect the dobby mechanical linkage for worn or broken pins and bushings
All pins and bushings are intact with no excessive play or breakage
How to Reset
To reset: 1) Replace the failed solenoid valve. 2. Recalibrate or replace the encoder. 3. Replace worn linkage components. 4. Press RESET. 5. Verify the pattern is correct in a test run.
