Applicable Systems
Dornier Weaving Machine
Symptoms
The Dornier weaving machine displays alarm D001, indicating warp tension anomaly. The warp tension is outside the allowed range, risking warp breakage or fabric quality defects such as streaks or uneven pick density.
Possible Causes
- Warp tension sensor has drifted or failed, causing inaccurate tension feedback to the controller
- Let-off or take-up motor is not responding to tension setpoint changes due to a drive fault
- Warp beam is binding due to a seized bearing, causing tension to spike when the beam should rotate freely
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Check the warp tension sensor reading against a calibrated hand tension meter
Sensor reading matches the hand meter within 5 percent at the setpoint tension - Step 2: Verify the let-off and take-up motor response to tension setpoint changes
Motors accelerate and decelerate smoothly in response to tension changes from the controller - Step 3: Check the warp beam bearing for seizure or binding by rotating the beam manually
Beam rotates freely with no grinding or tight spots when turned by hand
How to Reset
To reset: 1) Replace or recalibrate the tension sensor. 2) Repair the let-off or take-up drive. 3. Replace the beam bearing. 4. Press RESET. 5. Verify tension is stable during weaving.
