Symptoms

When attempting to run the PLC, a syntax error is detected in the ladder program. The PLC cannot enter RUN mode and returns error code 7 to indicate that the program contains invalid instructions or logic.

Possible Causes

  • Ladder program contains invalid or unsupported instructions
  • Instruction operands reference non-existent components or addresses
  • Program was edited outside of WinProladder or corrupted during transfer

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Step 1: Connect with WinProladder and perform a syntax check on the ladder program
    Syntax checker identifies the specific error location and type
  2. Step 2: Navigate to the identified error location and correct the invalid instruction or operand
    Instruction is corrected to a valid form
  3. Step 3: Re-run the syntax check to confirm no additional errors
    Syntax check passes with no errors
  4. Step 4: Download the corrected program and enter RUN mode
    PLC enters RUN mode successfully

How to Reset

Correct all syntax errors identified by WinProladder's syntax checker, then re-download the program and cycle power.
