Symptoms
The i950 reports a motor short circuit fault. A short circuit was detected in the motor windings between phases or to ground.
Possible Causes
- Motor winding phase-to-phase short circuit due to insulation failure
- Motor winding short to the motor frame or ground
- Motor terminal box wiring error causing phase short
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Disconnect the motor cable and test winding insulation with a megger
Insulation resistance is above minimum - Step 2: Measure winding resistance between all phase pairs for balance
All phase resistances are balanced - Step 3: Repair or replace the motor if windings are shorted
Motor windings show no short circuits
How to Reset
To reset: Eliminate the motor short circuit, then reset and restart.
