Panasonic MINAS A5 Servo Drive Error Err38.0

Panasonic PLC & VFD Warning Safety

Model: MINAS A5 | Code: Err38.0

Applicable Systems
MINAS A5 MINAS A6 MINAS A5II FP-X FP7

Symptoms

A drive prohibit input signal (e.g., from a limit switch or safety relay) is active, preventing the servo motor from being enabled. This is a safety function, not a fault.

Possible Causes

  • A hardware limit switch or safety interlock is activated
  • The drive prohibit input wiring is incorrect (signal is always active)
  • Safety relay is tripped due to an upstream safety condition

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Step 1: Check all limit switches and safety interlocks in the drive prohibit input circuit
All safety devices are in their normal (non-tripped) state
  2. Step 2: Verify the drive prohibit input wiring is correct and not shorted
Wiring matches the drive manual specifications
  3. Step 3: Reset any tripped safety relays and clear the safety condition
Safety system is reset and drive prohibit input is de-energized

How to Reset

To reset: Clear the safety condition that activated the drive prohibit input. The alarm clears automatically once the input is de-energized.
