Symptoms
The drive reports a hardware fault detected by internal diagnostics. The power stage is immediately disabled. The fault cannot be reset by power cycling.
Possible Causes
- Control board component failure (CPU, memory, FPGA)
- Power stage hardware defect detected by control board
- Internal voltage rail out of specification
- Board-level short circuit or component burnout
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Attempt a power cycle of both main and control power
If F9004 persists after power cycle, hardware replacement is required - Step 2: Check for any burn marks or unusual odor from the drive unit
Physical evidence of component failure confirms hardware damage - Step 3: Verify all power connections and DC bus voltage
DC bus voltage within rated range; no abnormal readings - Step 4: Replace the defective module identified by IndraWorks AS diagnostics
Replacement module initializes without F9004
How to Reset
1) Disconnect all power (main and 24V DC control). 2) Wait 5 minutes for DC bus discharge. 3) Verify DC bus voltage is below 36V with multimeter. 4) Reapply power. 5) If F9004 returns, the identified hardware module must be replaced. Caution: Do not attempt to repair PCB-level components in the field.
Common Replacement Parts
- R911319000: IndraDrive control module (confirm exact part number) (Match hardware revision and firmware version)
Frequently Asked Questions
- Q: Does F9004 always require hardware replacement?
In most cases yes. If a power cycle does not clear it, an internal hardware component has failed and the module must be replaced.
- Q: Can I identify which hardware component failed?
IndraWorks AS diagnostic buffer may provide additional sub-code information that narrows down the specific component.
