Applicable Systems
Uhlmann Blister Machine
Symptoms
The Uhlmann blister machine displays alarm U002, indicating heat seal temperature anomaly. The sealing station temperature is outside the allowed tolerance, risking weak seals or film damage.
Possible Causes
- Sealing heater band has failed or burned out, not heating the seal plate to the setpoint
- Sealing thermocouple has drifted or is loose, causing inaccurate temperature feedback and oscillation
- Seal plate surface is contaminated with adhesive or film residue, causing uneven heat transfer and weak seals
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Check the sealing heater band resistance and supply voltage
Heater band resistance matches the nameplate value and the supply voltage is present - Step 2: Calibrate or replace the sealing thermocouple against a reference pyrometer
Thermocouple reading matches the pyrometer within 3C at the sealing temperature setpoint - Step 3: Inspect and clean the seal plate surface for adhesive or film residue buildup
Seal plate is clean and smooth with no residue or deposits that would affect heat transfer or seal quality
How to Reset
To reset: 1) Replace the failed heater band. 2) Replace or recalibrate the thermocouple. 3) Clean the seal plate. 4) Press RESET. 5) Verify seal strength with a leak test after a test cycle.
