Applicable Systems
Uhlmann Blister Machine
Symptoms
The Uhlmann blister machine displays alarm U008, indicating blister pocket rupture. Formed blister pockets are cracking or rupturing during handling or sealing, risking product exposure or contamination.
Possible Causes
- Forming temperature is too low, causing the film to be brittle and crack under sealing pressure
- Forming film is too thin for the product depth, causing thin walls that rupture under handling
- Sealing pressure is too high for the formed film, crushing the blister pocket during the seal cycle
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Check the forming temperature against the film specification
Temperature is at the upper end of the forming range to ensure full softening and wall strength - Step 2: Verify the forming film thickness is suitable for the cavity depth
Film thickness is at or above the minimum recommended for the cavity depth being formed - Step 3: Check the sealing pressure against the film supplier's recommendation
Sealing pressure is at the minimum required for a hermetic seal without crushing the pocket
How to Reset
To reset: 1) Increase forming temperature. 2) Use a thicker film grade. 3) Reduce sealing pressure. 4) Press RESET. 5) Verify no blister rupture in a test run.
