Applicable Systems
Wonderware System Platform
Symptoms
The Wonderware System Platform reports a tag timeout alarm. One or more data tags have not received a quality-good update within the configured timeout period.
Possible Causes
- The source device is not scanning or publishing the tag at the expected update rate
- Tag quality is being overridden by a device-level fault such as a sensor failure or channel error
- The Wonderware tag subscription or scan group is configured with a scan rate slower than the timeout period
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Check the tag scan rate and timeout settings in the Galaxy
Scan rate is faster than the timeout period, ensuring timely updates - Step 2: Verify the source device is publishing the tag by checking the DAServer topic
Tag shows Good quality in the DAServer browse, confirming the device is publishing it - Step 3: Inspect the device-level diagnostics for sensor or channel faults
No device-level faults are present and the I/O channel is healthy
How to Reset
To reset: 1) Correct the scan rate or timeout configuration. 2) Clear any device-level faults. 3) Right-click the tag in the Galaxy and select Refresh. 4) Confirm the tag quality returns to Good.
