GA Series Compressed Air System
Symptoms
The Elektronikon MKV controller has lost Modbus RTU communication with the integrated VSD (variable speed drive). The compressor continues running in local fixed-speed mode.
Possible Causes
- Loose RS-485 communication cable between the controller and VSD terminal block
- VSD parameter mismatch causing the drive to reject controller commands
- Electromagnetic interference from unshielded power cables near the communication bus
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Check the RS-485 A/B wires at controller terminal X3 and VSD terminal 14/15 for tightness
Re-seat the terminals and verify correct polarity - swap only if the wiring diagram confirms a reversal - Step 2: Enter the VSD keypad menu and verify parameter 1-00 (Control Word Profile) is set to FC Profile
If set to Standard Profile, change to FC Profile and power-cycle the VSD - Step 3: Inspect the RS-485 cable routing - ensure it is separated from motor power cables by at least 150 mm
If parallel runs are unavoidable, install a ferrite clamp on the communication cable at the VSD end
How to Reset
Reset: Once the Modbus link is restored, the Elektronikon will auto-clear the alarm within 10 seconds. No manual reset is required.

- 1619-9000-00: RS-485 communication cable, 2 m (Shielded twisted pair, M12 to terminal block)
- 1619-9001-00: Ferrite clamp for RS-485 cable (Snap-on, 13 mm ID, for EMI suppression)
