Symptoms
The packaging machine reports a servo following error. The servo motor actual position lags the command beyond the tolerance band.
Possible Causes
- Servo gain parameters too low for the load
- Excessive load or friction in the mechanism
- Mechanical coupling backlash or looseness
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Increase servo position loop gain within stability limits
Following error is within tolerance - Step 2: Inspect the mechanism for binding or excessive friction
Mechanism moves smoothly - Step 3: Check and tighten mechanical couplings
Couplings are tight with minimal backlash
How to Reset
To reset: Reduce the following error within tolerance, then clear the alarm.
