Symptoms
The packaging machine reports motor overheating. The motor temperature has exceeded the rated limit, activating thermal protection.
Possible Causes
- Excessive load or friction on the driven mechanism
- Motor cooling fan blocked or failed
- Continuous operation exceeding duty cycle
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Inspect the driven mechanism for binding or overload
Mechanism operates with normal friction - Step 2: Verify motor cooling fan is unobstructed and running
Fan operates freely and air flow is unobstructed - Step 3: Check motor current against nameplate FLA
Current is within rated limits
How to Reset
To reset: Allow the motor to cool, resolve the overload cause, then reset.
