Symptoms
The packaging machine reports a material web tension anomaly. The packaging material tension is outside the acceptable range.
Possible Causes
- Tension dancer or load cell out of calibration
- Brake or clutch on the unwind stand slipping
- Material roll diameter variation affecting tension
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Verify the tension sensor calibration
Sensor reads accurately against a reference - Step 2: Inspect the brake or clutch operation on the unwind
Brake/clutch holds tension consistently - Step 3: Adjust tension parameters for the current roll diameter
Tension is maintained at the setpoint
How to Reset
To reset: Adjust the web tension, then clear the alarm from the HMI.
