Copeland Scroll Compressor (CoreSense/Comfort Alert)
Symptoms
The compressor trips on high-low pressure protection. The system pressure has exceeded the safety threshold and the compressor shuts down to prevent damage.
Possible Causes
- Condenser fouling or insufficient airflow causing high discharge pressure
- Evaporator icing or restricted airflow causing low suction pressure
- Refrigerant charge incorrect - overcharge or undercharge
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Check condenser condition and verify fan operation
Condenser is clean and fans run at full speed - Step 2: Check suction and discharge pressure gauges against normal operating range
Pressures are within manufacturer specified range - Step 3: Verify refrigerant charge level using subcooling and superheat measurements
Charge quantity matches the nameplate value
How to Reset
To reset: Resolve the pressure abnormality, then press the manual reset button on the pressure control.
