Copeland Scroll Compressor (CoreSense/Comfort Alert)
Symptoms
The compressor reports an oil pressure differential fault. The oil pressure has dropped below the minimum required differential for safe bearing lubrication.
Possible Causes
- Low oil level in the compressor crankcase
- Oil filter or oil passage clogged restricting oil flow
- Oil pump wear reducing pumping capacity
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Check the compressor oil level sight glass and add oil if low
Oil level is at the center of the sight glass - Step 2: Inspect the oil filter for contamination and replace if dirty
New filter installed and oil flow restored - Step 3: Measure oil pump discharge pressure and compare with specification
Oil pressure differential meets minimum requirement
How to Reset
To reset: Restore the oil pressure differential to specification, then reset the oil pressure safety control.
