Symptoms
The crane reports excessive wire rope wear. The hoist rope shows signs of excessive wear or damage.
Possible Causes
- Rope lubrication insufficient causing abrasion
- Rope fleet angle incorrect causing rope scrubbing
- Rope sheave groove worn or damaged
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Inspect the rope for broken wires and wear
Rope wear is within discard criteria - Step 2: Verify the rope fleet angle at the drum
Angle is within specification - Step 3: Check sheave groove condition
Grooves are smooth and within tolerance
How to Reset
To reset: Replace the rope if required, then clear the maintenance alarm.
