Symptoms
The crane reports an encoder fault. The motor encoder signal is lost or corrupted, preventing speed and position control.
Possible Causes
- Encoder cable damaged or connector loose
- Encoder coupling or mounting loose
- Encoder internal electronic failure
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Check the encoder cable and connector
Cable is intact and connector is secure - Step 2: Verify encoder mounting and coupling
Encoder is firmly mounted and coupled - Step 3: Test encoder output with an oscilloscope
Signal is clean and consistent
How to Reset
To reset: Restore encoder feedback, then reset the drive controller.
