Symptoms
The crane reports motor overheating. A hoist or travel motor temperature has exceeded the safe limit.
Possible Causes
- Motor cooling fan blocked or failed
- Excessive duty cycle or frequent starts
- Motor bearing failure generating heat
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Check the motor cooling fan operation
Fan runs and delivers adequate airflow - Step 2: Verify the duty cycle is within the motor rating
Operation is within rated duty cycle - Step 3: Inspect motor bearings for noise and heat
Bearings are in good condition
How to Reset
To reset: Allow the motor to cool, resolve the cause, then reset the protection.
