Symptoms
The i950 reports a power module fault. The intelligent power module (IPM) detected an internal failure and tripped.
Possible Causes
- IPM internal IGBT or freewheeling diode failure
- IPM gate drive circuit fault preventing proper switching
- IPM overheat due to excessive switching losses or cooling failure
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Check the IPM for short circuit between output terminals
IPM shows no short circuit - Step 2: Verify the cooling system is functioning and the heatsink is clean
Cooling is adequate and heatsink is clean - Step 3: If the IPM is defective, replace the drive unit
New unit operates with a healthy IPM
How to Reset
To reset: Fix the power module fault or replace the unit, then restart.
