Symptoms
Resistive touch requires excessive force; stylus must be pressed hard to register.
Possible Causes
- Top polyester layer of the 5-wire resistive touch panel worn or micro-scratched.
- Calibration matrix drifted due to long-term mechanical stress on the bezel.
- Conductive spacer dots inside the touch panel flattened, increasing contact resistance.
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Run the Crimson touch calibration utility using light finger pressure.
All calibration points register with <100 g of force. - Step 2: Inspect the touch surface under angled light for deep scratches or cracks.
Surface is smooth or only superficial wear is present. - Step 3: Measure the touch panel resistance between top and bottom layers with a multimeter.
Resistance is within the 200–900 Ohm range specified for the panel model.
How to Reset
Recalibrate the touch panel; if excessive force persists, replace the resistive touch overlay.
