Symptoms
The Roland printing press displays error R005, indicating a plate mounting error. The printing plate is not properly mounted on the cylinder, causing register problems or plate damage.
Possible Causes
- Plate punching holes do not align with the cylinder pins
- Plate tension is uneven causing wrinkles or slack at the trailing edge
- Cylinder undercut is dirty or has dried ink preventing flat seating
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Verify the plate punching matches the cylinder pin configuration
Holes align with pins and the plate sits flush against the cylinder surface - Step 2: Check plate tension from lead to trail edge with a tension gauge
Tension is uniform across the width and within the specified range - Step 3: Clean the cylinder undercut and check for ink buildup or burrs
Undercut is clean and smooth with no obstructions
How to Reset
To reset: 1) Remove and remount the plate with correct punching and tension. 2) Clean the cylinder undercut. 3) Press the PLATE CHECK button before starting the press.
