Symptoms
The Roland printing press displays error R011, indicating excessive vibration in a transfer cylinder. The cylinder is out of balance or has bearing wear, causing print quality issues.
Possible Causes
- Cylinder bearing inner race spalled or lubrication insufficient
- Cylinder gear backlash excessive due to wear
- Paper dust accumulation on the cylinder causing dynamic imbalance
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Measure cylinder bearing temperature and listen for noise
Temperature is within normal range and no grinding or rumbling is audible - Step 2: Check the cylinder gear mesh backlash with a feeler gauge
Backlash is within the manufacturer's specification for the gear module - Step 3: Clean the cylinder surface and check for paper dust buildup
Cylinder is clean and the surface shows no deposits or ink buildup affecting balance
How to Reset
To reset: 1) Replace worn bearings if temperature or noise is abnormal. 2) Adjust or replace worn gears. 3) Clean all cylinder surfaces. 4) Restart at low speed and monitor vibration.
