Roland Offset Printing Machine
Symptoms
The Roland printing press displays error R003, indicating a sheet feeder malfunction. The feeder cannot deliver sheets to the first printing unit consistently, causing misfeeds or double feeds.
Possible Causes
- Feeder suction cups worn or improperly adjusted for sheet thickness
- Feeder air blast pressure too high or too low for the paper weight
- Sheet stack in the feeder pile is uneven or misaligned
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Inspect feeder suction cups for wear and adjust separation blow
Cups are pliable with no cracks and separation blow is set for the paper weight - Step 2: Check the feeder air regulator pressure gauge
Pressure is within the range specified in the manual for the current paper weight - Step 3: Align the sheet pile edges and ensure the side guides are set correctly
Pile is square and side guides contact the stack without excessive pressure
How to Reset
To reset: 1) Replace worn suction cups and adjust feeder settings. 2) Realign the paper pile. 3) Press the FEEDER RESET button and run a trial feed.
