Symptoms
The Roland printing press displays error R008, indicating an ink zone control fault. One or more ink keys are not responding to the remote ink preset or closed-loop control.
Possible Causes
- Ink key motor or gearbox failed due to dried ink contamination
- Ink ductor roller not touching the fountain roller evenly
- Ink preset data from the prepress system is corrupted or mismatched
Troubleshooting Steps
- Step 1: Manually test each ink key movement from the console
All keys move smoothly through their full travel with no binding or skipping - Step 2: Check the ink ductor roller contact against the fountain roller
Contact is uniform across the width with a consistent stripe width - Step 3: Reimport the ink preset data from the prepress CIP3 or CIP4 file
Preset values load correctly and match the job specification
How to Reset
To reset: 1) Clean or replace faulty ink key motors. 2) Adjust the ductor roller contact. 3) Reload the ink preset data. 4) Press INK RESET and verify key response.
